Varieties:
There are some 82 species of camellia flowers. The common camellias, grown for its beautiful waxlike flowers, is the Camellia japonica. There are single and double varieties available.
Colors:
Whites, creams, pinks, and reds. Solid and variegated shades.
Scent:
Very mild sweet fragrance.
Freshness:
Buds are good size and show color.
Vase Life:
Greenery lasts for weeks, the blossoms only a few days. Camellia flowers drop from their branches easily.
Availability:
Greenery available all year. The blossoms appear in the late winter/early spring and again in the fall.
Cost:
Inexpensive.
Meaning:
The flower of graciousness. The red camellia flower is for loveliness.
Note:
The tea that we drink is made from a variety of camellia flowers.
Arranging Tip:
